Sofi Tukker is a New York-based musical duo consisting of
Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern. They released an EP, Soft Animals
on July 8, 2016.To date, they have released the works "Drinkee",
"Matadora" and "Hey Lion".
"Paste
Magazine" described Sofi Tukker's release as
"an insatiable dance collection of jungle-pop songs with many
well-executed nods towards Brazilian instruments, poets and to the national
language, Portuguese". The magazine's review referred to the "carefully
conceptualized Matadora" as “the album’s show-stopper".

Why have You chosen this musical style?
Because we love dancing!
Where do You seek inspiration for Your new creations?
From everywhere! From life, from clubs, from our live shows and seeing how people react.
Which one of Your concerts was the most memorable for You and why?
Our show in Latvia was amazing because it was the furthest we had ever played from home and people still knew the lyrics and were really into it!
If You were Super Hero, were You’ ll use the power?
Tucker: flying.
Sophie: absolute healing.
If You weren’t the composer and singer , what profession You’ll have chosen?
Tucker: basketball player (I had chosen this initially!)
Sophie: firefighter ballerina.
What do You feel while singing, creating music?
So much joy.
Which song was fun to create? Which one caused problems?
Haha! They are all fun to create and they all cause problems in different ways... If they cause too many problems that usually means it's time to move on and let that one go!
Would You please tell us about Your duo a bit more, the story of creation?
We met while at University. Tucker had to stop playing basketball for health reasons and began DJ’ing and composing dance music. Sophie was studying international conflict resolution, Portuguese, among playing acoustic music, mostly bossa nova. We met our senior year and have been working together ever since.
Which of Your songs is the most close to You and why?
They all express different parts of us. At different times, some are more relevant than others. It really depends on the day!
What are Your plans for future (in music)?
We are working on our full length album right now and we are really excited to share it!
What are Your plans for the nearest future? Maybe You intend to visit Lithuania?
We would love to!!
You are so popular, what’s the feeling of public recognition, crowds of fans asking for selfies with You.
Hahahaha! It's a strange thing to get used to. Good thing Tucker has a really long arm so it's easy to take selfies. (Tuck is blushing)
